Troy ISD Announces Jacob Ward and Emma Gersbach as Class of 2026 Valedictorian and Salutatorian
TROY, TX — Troy Independent School District proudly recognizes Jacob Ward as the Class of 2026 Valedictorian and Emma Gersbach as the Class of 2026 Salutatorian. These two outstanding students have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement, leadership, service, and dedication throughout their years at Troy High School.
Valedictorian: Jacob Ward
Jacob Ward has distinguished himself through academic excellence, leadership, and service. As Troy High School’s Valedictorian, Jacob plans to attend Texas Tech University, where he will major in Biochemistry on a pre-med track with the goal of becoming an anesthesiologist.
During his high school career, Jacob earned numerous honors, including Troy Male Scholar of the Year and 1st Team All-State Academic Football Player. He has been awarded the Texas Tech University Merit Scholarship, the National FFA Johnson Brothers Ford Scholarship, the VFW Voice of Democracy Award, as well as scholarships from Troy FCA, Troy FFA Alumni, and Bell County Youth Fair.
Jacob has been deeply involved in athletics, participating in football, basketball, golf, and track, while also serving in multiple leadership roles as Power Up President, Student Council member, and Beta Club member. His passion for FFA has been a defining part of his high school experience, where he was recognized as the Troy FFA Outstanding Competitor. He competed in numerous Career and Leadership Development Events, advancing to state competitions multiple times, while also excelling in UIL Editorial Writing and agricultural project competitions.
Beyond academics and extracurriculars, Jacob has made a lasting impact through service. From assisting tornado recovery efforts in his community to volunteering through FFA, FCA, church youth programs, and local events, Jacob exemplifies servant leadership and a commitment to helping others.
Salutatorian: Emma Gersbach
Emma Monique Gersbach, daughter of Jon and Megan Gersbach, has been a dedicated Troy ISD student for 13 years. As Salutatorian of the Class of 2026, Emma plans to attend Texas A&M University, where she will major in Business as a member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2030.
Emma’s high school career has been marked by remarkable involvement across academics, athletics, leadership, and community service. Through FFA, Emma competed in Ag Advocacy, Livestock Judging, Ag Issues, Radio Broadcasting, and the nationally qualifying Ag Communications team. She served Troy FFA as Vice President, Sentinel, and Greenhand President.
A multi-sport athlete and leader, Emma participated in Varsity Softball, Volleyball, Golf, Cheer, and Basketball, serving as captain while representing Troy High School with excellence. She also held leadership roles as President of Student Council and remained active in Power-Up, Beta Club, and Wildflower Guild.
Emma’s commitment to service extends beyond school through her work with Troy Methodist Church, where she has participated in mission trips, served on the Board of Stewards, and contributed through media ministry.
Troy ISD proudly celebrates Jacob and Emma for their hard work, leadership, and commitment to excellence. Their achievements reflect not only personal dedication but also the values and spirit of Troy High School. The district congratulates both students and looks forward to the bright futures ahead of them.
