TROY ISD COACH KAlLEY MAHLOCK NAMED THSCA REGION 8 COACH OF THE YEAR
TROY, Texas — Troy High School Volleyball Head Coach Kailey Mahlock has been named the 2025–2026 Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Region 8 Coach of the Year, an honor recognizing excellence in coaching performance, leadership, and community impact.
The THSCA Regional Coach of the Year award is presented to active THSCA members who are nominated by their peers following the state championships. Nominees are evaluated by the THSCA Awards Committee based on several criteria, including season record, team and individual achievements, community involvement, professionalism, and overall contribution to the coaching profession. One boys’ sport coach and one girls’ sport coach are selected per region, with regional honorees eligible for consideration at the national level.
Mahlock, who serves as head volleyball coach at Troy High School, was selected as the Region 8 3A Girls Head Coach of the Year, reflecting both her on-court success and her commitment to developing student-athletes beyond competition.
“I am extremely honored to receive this award,” Mahlock said. “Thank you, Lord, for the platform to do what I love and the opportunity to pour into young athletes through this sport. Coaching is never a solo effort—this recognition belongs to our players, staff, families, and everyone who believes in our program. Grateful to walk out my purpose every day.”
Mahlock emphasizes character development as a cornerstone of her coaching philosophy, prioritizing respect, sportsmanship, and personal growth.
“I work hardest to instill respect and strong character in my athletes,” she said. “I want them to compete with class, show great sportsmanship, and understand that who they are as people matters more than their performance on the court. My goal is to develop better humans first, and volleyball players second.”
She also credited the strong support system surrounding Troy High School athletics for the program’s continued success.
“Troy ISD, our parents, and the community play a vital role in our program’s success,” Mahlock said. “Their encouragement, trust, and involvement create an environment where our athletes can thrive. I am truly grateful to be part of a community with such an incredible support system.”
Troy ISD congratulates Coach Mahlock on this well-deserved honor and thanks her for her dedication to student-athletes, the volleyball program, and the Troy community.
