While in school, a student develops connections with other students, faculty, and staff. These relationships are the cornerstone that makes the child feel valued and can foster an enjoyable and successful journey throughout the school career.
A missed class or day can leave a hole that is sometimes difficult to repair. Student’s questions and responses, labs, and particular lessons can’t be recreated with make up work. The absent student will never understand the richness of the conversations and presentations that happened on that missed day.
Then the student feels left out when that event or discussion is referred to in class. This is the beginning of a vicious cycle of missing and not wanting to participate.
Be there. Listen. Participate.
