Troy ISD is using a new technology tool called the MAP Reading Fluency Assessment to determine student strengths and weaknesses in early reading skills. The online assessment uses speech recognition technology to "listen" to students read, and then provides data on what skills students need to learn next. Mays Elementary School is one of the first in Texas to use this new technology. Instructional Coaches Tawana Nance and Elaine Roberts shared what they have learned administering the assessment as part of their presentation at the MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) Conference in Plano, Texas. Shown below are Tawana Nance (left), Ella Rigoulot (MAP representative), and Elaine Roberts.
