Troy ISD Celebrates 50 Teachers Recognized Through the Teacher Incentive Allotment Program

This year, Troy ISD has reached an impressive milestone, with 50 educators earning TIA designations. Twenty four of these teachers are being recognized for the first time, highlighting the district's continued efforts to expand recognition for excellence. Collectively, these designations have generated $723,651 for the district funds that directly support our mission of attracting and retaining the best talent in the classroom.
“Through TIA, Troy ISD aims to financially reward teachers based on their effectiveness, with the goal of achieving a six-figure salary for our highest-performing teachers.” Kenny Westmoreland, Troy ISD’s Data and Curriculum Specialist and Instructional Materials Coordinator, shared. “Troy ISD is committed to the TIA initiative, with a focus on recognizing and rewarding our incredible teachers. The district continually works to analyze and improve our TIA plan to ensure a reliable and valid system.”
The Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) program—a statewide initiative passed by the Texas Legislature in 2019 through House Bill 3 rewards top-performing educators with higher salaries while strengthening districts’ efforts to attract and retain exceptional teachers. This strategic investment in education links teacher evaluations from the Texas Teacher Evaluation Support System (T-TESS) with student growth on state or district performance assessments designations, which are valid for five years.
According to the Texas Education Agency, TIA-recognized teachers are 3% more likely to stay in a teaching role and 8% more likely to remain in their district. Troy ISD’s commitment to this initiative demonstrates its dedication to fostering excellence in education and investing in the future of its students.
This year’s newly recognized TIA teachers include:
Traci Adams, Jeffrey Ayers, Lisa Browning, Benny Carr, Molly Cooke, Kamlin Cooper, Kim Epperson, Priscilla Fricke, Maryann Gonzalez, Nicole Gordon, Cynthia Guin, Julie Hall, Rhett Hansen, Trisha Hart, Linda Locke, Brittany Martin, Quincy McMurtry, Rebekah Robinson, Jeannie Ryan, Brittnie Smith, Jarrod Smith, Rebecca Spiers, Erin Townes, and Sarah Weiss.
Their dedication to student success and professional growth sets a high standard for the entire district. These achievements not only benefit our teachers but also lay the groundwork for a stronger, more vibrant educational community.
